Description
Prairie Island's two pressurized water reactors generate about 20 percent of the electricity used by Xcel Energy's customers in the Upper Midwest. The plant is located on a 520-acre site about 40 miles southeast of Minneapolis-St. Paul and about five miles north of Red Wing, Minn. Nearly 800 people are employed full-time at the plant. On June 27, 2011, the NRC renewed for 20 years the plant's original operating licenses, authorizing the Prairie Island units to continue generating electricity to 2033 and 2034.
Essential Responsibilities
:
o Specific duties include overseeing the performance of assigned systems to ensure nuclear safety, regulatory compliance and superior system reliability and availability, monitoring systems for adverse conditions, assessing system operations and maintenance experience, evaluating industry and vendor experience to determine appropriate preventative and corrective action. Provide leadership in the performance of long range planning for resolution of system technical issues based on industry/regulatory issues, equipment obsolescence and day-to-day operations. Provide high quality technical assistance associated with system modifications and operating, maintenance and testing procedures.
o Develop schedules, utilize work management tools, perform assignments for engineering related activities to support site and fleet goals. Miscellaneous activities as assigned.
o Attend department and plant meetings and industry/fleet activities. Attend training.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Requires a four-year engineering degree from an American Board of Engineering Technology (ABET) accredited institution.
- The applicability of the degree shall be documented at time of hiring.
- Minimum 2 years of engineering experience.
The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience.
A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
